The most successsful pieces are "co-designed". Input from the client is crucial in the design process. The piece is a reflection of their values, experiences and most importantly, their creative inspirations. The details of this information are closely taken into account during the design process.

A good design does not necessarily happen all at once, but instead usually evolves through modifications. Often times, especially in a multi-piece design such as a kitchen or complex wall unit, the project will be done in phases. As Each phase reaches completion in offers insight as to how the next phase should compliment the previous work. When the piece is being constructed the details often become refined or completely redesigned and augmented as the work's proportion, size and texture unfold. The piece is constantly being redesigned until it is finished.

Elements of a well built piece include tight joinery, no use of nails on exterior facings, no sanding marks, no saw marks, no use of laquer or other cheap finishes, tight reveals between doors and drawer fronts, balanced wood grains and good wood color placement. A finished piece should look as if it were created specifically for its intended location. For those who believe that unique craftsmanship is gone, I hope to prove that it will always endure.
